Meet Cassie
Pellon: What inspires you to start a project?
Cassie: I frequently am inspired by other designers. Even if I can buy a great pattern for something, I like the challenge and satisfaction that comes from making something myself.
P: What does your creative process entail?
C: I spend a lot of time looking at blogs, Pinterest and finished commercial products before I sit down to make something. I don’t always know what the finished piece will look like, but I like to know before hand what jives with my style and what doesn’t.
P: What tips or tricks learned through experience can you share?
C: I always spray starch my quilt blocks because I’m convinced (whether or not it’s true?) the steam from my iron pre-shrinks the fabric and I love the crinkle shrinkage that happens when I finally wash it!
